The annual BoSox Club visit to spring training offered an early glimpse at a 2026 Red Sox squad that has fans buzzing with cautious optimism, and plenty of reasons to believe in what’s ahead.

Under sunny Florida skies at JetBlue Park on March 21, BoSox Club members packed Section 200, ready for a marquee pitching matchup between Garrett Crochet and former Red Sox ace Chris Sale. Both pitchers looked sharp early, trading zeros and flashing swing-and-miss stuff that had fans locked in from the first pitch. In the end, Sale’s veteran edge carried the day, as he outlasted Crochet in a game that lived up to its billing.

After the final out, the action shifted from the field to the grill, as members were treated to the always-popular BoSox Club BBQ. The event once again delivered one of the most unique perks of membership—up-close access to the next wave of Red Sox talent.

Top prospects Skylar King, Shea Sprague, Blake Wehunt, Mason White and Jack Winnay joined the festivities for a lively Q&A session led by former Red Sox infielder and current broadcaster Lou Merloni. Each player shared what it meant to be drafted by the Red Sox and spoke about their determination to climb the minor league ladder on their way to Fenway Park.

One of the standout moments came from pitcher Blake Wehunt, who had just made his first major league spring training start the day before against the Rays. Reflecting on his upbringing, Wehunt shared stories of growing up on his family’s chicken farm in Georgia, “Wehunt Chickens,” a name that quickly became clubhouse legend thanks to some good-natured ribbing from fellow pitcher Peyton Tolle. The joke didn’t stop there, as it even inspired the printing of novelty t-shirts that have already become a favorite among teammates.

Beyond the stories, what stood out most was how genuinely engaged the players were. They spent time signing autographs, taking photos, and connecting with fans—creating lasting memories for everyone in attendance.

Events like this are a reminder of what makes the BoSox Club special. The annual spring training trip continues to be one of the most memorable and rewarding member experiences, combining great baseball with unmatched access.

If you missed this year’s trip, start planning now – Fort Myers 2027 will be here before you know it.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
